Blooms & Buzz Flower Farm was born from a dream — to build a thriving flower farm where flowers bloom, bees buzz, the community is made more beautiful, and our family grows together. We are actively working toward that dream, one step at a time.
For over 45 years of marriage, our family has been rooted in love, resilience, and a deep commitment to nurturing those who need it most.
As foster parents, we've opened our home and hearts to children in transition, ultimately adopting five incredible souls who have become the blooming center of our lives. Each child's journey — from uncertain beginnings to thriving futures — has taught us the profound beauty of growth, second chances, and the power of a supportive environment.
This is the heart of Blooms & Buzz Flower Farm. We see growing vibrant flowers as a living metaphor for raising beautiful children. Just as seeds from humble origins can flourish in the right soil — nourished by sunlight, water, and care — so too can every child, regardless of their start, bloom into their full potential.
In the proper "soil" of faith, hope, love, patience, honesty, encouragement, and community, they take root, stretch toward the light, and fill the world with their unique fragrance of joy, strength, and purpose.
Our farm isn't just a business; it's an extension of this legacy. Our vision is to cultivate not only eco-friendly blooms but also a space for healing, learning, and inspiration in the Winston-Salem community. Through workshops, tours, and partnerships, we share stories of transformation — reminding visitors that every flower, like every child, has the capacity to brighten the world.

The Heart of It All
The Power of a Seed in Good Soil
Every farmer knows the quiet miracle of a seed. Buried in darkness, seemingly forgotten, it draws silently on the richness of the soil around it — and in due season, it breaks through. It doesn't force its way. It doesn't manufacture its own light. It simply receives, and it grows.
Good soil changes everything. The same seed planted in depleted ground and in nourished earth will yield entirely different harvests. Soil rich in organic matter, teeming with life below the surface, full of the right minerals and moisture — that soil doesn't just support a plant, it transforms it into something far beyond what the seed could have produced on its own.
This is not just the science of our farm. It is the story of our family.

To raise a child is to make a thousand daily choices to tend another life before your own. The sleepless nights, the patient listening, the steady presence — these are seeds pressed into the soil of a young soul. They grow silently for years, then bloom in ways that take your breath away.
Soil of Marriage & Home
A strong marriage is the richest soil of all. Built over 45 years of choosing each other — through seasons of hardship, harvest, and everything in between — our home became the ground from which six children grew their roots deep enough to weather any storm. Five were adopted, living proof that second chances yield incredible results.
Seeds of Faith
Everything grows from this: faith in God's Word and the power of Christ's cross and resurrection. Our lives aren't our own—they've been purchased and are being transformed. By grace through faith, we live in the power of His resurrection. That's where real prosperity grows. We're still learning to live this out, and it's amazing.
When you hold a bouquet from Blooms & Buzz, you are holding the harvest of all of it — the seeds sown quietly over decades, in soil prepared not by machinery alone, but by love, intention, and an unwavering belief that what we give to the world matters.
We farm because we believe in seeds. And we believe the most powerful seed of all is God's Word planted into our hearts — the very truth Jesus described in the Parable of the Sower (Matt. 13:3–9): that seed sown in good soil bears fruit a hundredfold.

Flowers, honey, photography, and an open gate for those who need a place to breathe — that's the whole of it. One family, learning and growing together, inviting our community to grow with us.
The Farmer
After forty years in marketing, Keith traded the desk for the dirt. A first-time farmer, he's enrolled in the Floret Flowers workshop and NC State's Beginning Farmer training — proof that there's no age limit on beginning, and no expiration date on a dream.
The Land We Seek
We're searching for our forever farm — a turnkey piece of ground in the Piedmont Triad where greenhouses already stand, a barn waits to be transformed, and well water runs ready. A place that lets the flowers bloom on day one, and lets our family's next chapter begin.
The Lens
Susie turns the farm into art — her camera finds the beauty in every bloom and every milestone celebrated among the fields. Photography isn't a side of the farm; it's part of its soul.
The Welcoming Heart
Our son Jeremiah, whose heart is as wide as the fields, will welcome guests to our therapeutic program — planting, demonstrating, and tending the guest garden plots. It's meaningful, dignified work that honors his gift for hospitality.

Our journey didn't stop at our own family. We open the farm to special needs children and seniors — inviting them to come experience the land, plant a flower, watch it grow, and enjoy an afternoon that recharges the spirit.
It's the same story, told wider. The same soil that has grown our children is the soil we offer to anyone who needs a moment of peace, beauty, and belonging.

Guests of every age get their hands in the soil — planting a seedling, tending it, and watching it bloom. A quiet reminder that growth takes patience, and that we all bloom in our own season.
Guided by People Who Care
Special activities are planned alongside staff from senior centers, foster parents, supervisors, and caregivers — so every guest is supported, safe, and truly seen.
An Afternoon to Recharge
No agenda, no hurry. Just the hum of bees, the warmth of the sun, and the simple joy of being surrounded by living, growing beauty. Come tired, leave refreshed.
For Every Season of Life
Children with special needs, seniors, foster families, and adoptive families — the farm belongs to all of them. This is our journey, and an open invitation to share in it.
We're starting with two afternoons a week — and we'll grow from there, just like the flowers.
From foster care to adoption, and now to the wider community — this really has been our journey. We'd love for you to be part of it.
The Farm Infrastructure
Hoop Houses: Two 30×96 ft structures — our Early Bloom Tunnel pushes the season start to late February, while the Extended Harvest Tunnel keeps us growing through November.
Growing Beds: Long 70–100 ft flower beds (4 ft wide) arranged in production blocks for maximum efficiency and succession planting.
The Barn: The dream includes transforming an equestrian barn into a flower processing hub with cooler space, bunching stations, and supply storage.
Workshops & Tours: We invite visitors into our story — farm tours, floral design workshops, and seasonal events that connect people to the land and to each other.
